Supporting Healthcare and Community Wellbeing Through Meaningful Giving

A meaningful community initiative was recently carried out in Sri Lanka by Dr Rosh Jalagge, Owner and CEO of Roshana Care Group, and Mrs Priyanka Gamage, Co-CEO of Roshana Care Group, supporting the health and wellbeing of the local community in the Rathnapura District.

This initiative reflects the belief that compassion and care extend beyond borders. Guided by a commitment to identify opportunities to support communities and provide assistance where it can create meaningful impact, this contribution was focused on creating a positive and lasting difference.

As part of this initiative, a Multifunctional Medical Unit was constructed at the Primary Medical Care Unit, Panawenna, in the Neelagama area, providing a valuable addition to the healthcare services available to the surrounding community.

The newly established facility creates a dedicated space to support medical professionals in delivering essential healthcare services, improving patient care, and enhancing access to medical support for people in the area. This contribution will help strengthen healthcare capacity and provide ongoing benefits to the community for years to come.

Alongside the development of the Multifunctional Medical Unit, a community blood donation programme was also organised to encourage individuals to support lifesaving medical needs. The initiative recognised the generosity of blood donors through the provision of insurance schemes and appreciation plaques, acknowledging their contribution and encouraging continued participation in supporting the wider community.

This initiative reflects the values that continue to guide Roshana Care Group, compassion, care, and a commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of people.

At Roshana Care Group, our vision of providing the highest standard of care extends beyond the services we deliver. Through meaningful initiatives such as this, we continue to support communities, create positive impact, and put people first through actions that make a lasting difference.

Preserving Tradition Through Compassion and Giving

As part of their ongoing commitment to supporting meaningful community and cultural initiatives, Mrs. Priyanka Gamage, together with Dr. Rosh Jalagge, sponsored a traditional Kiri Danaya (Milk Rice Almsgiving) for 108 mothers at the Umandawa Buddhist Global Village in Sri Lanka.

The ceremony was conducted to invoke blessings upon Venerable Nun Shi Chuan Dun and her delegation from Taiwan during their visit to Umandawa, while also transferring merits to the Great Bodhisattva Maitreya. Bringing together faith, generosity, and community, the event celebrated the enduring values of compassion, gratitude, and selfless giving that continue to inspire and unite people across cultures.

This initiative reflects Dr. Rosh Jalagge and Mrs. Priyanka Gamage’s enduring commitment to giving back through initiatives that strengthen communities, preserve cultural and spiritual traditions, and foster a spirit of generosity and service.

Through initiatives such as this, they continue to demonstrate that meaningful giving is not measured solely by what is contributed, but by the positive and lasting impact it creates. Their commitment to supporting community, cultural, and humanitarian causes reflects a genuine desire to uplift others, inspire compassion, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those they serve.

Rosh and Priyanka Foundation

The Rosh and Priyanka Foundation is a heartfelt initiative dedicated to empowering women and children in some of Sri Lanka’s most disadvantaged rural communities. Founded and personally funded by Dr. Rosh Jalagge and Mrs. Priyanka Gamage, the Foundation is driven by the belief that true, lasting change begins when the most vulnerable are empowered to rise.

Our mission is rooted in the rural heart of Sri Lanka, where poverty, limited resources, and generational inequality often hold women and children back from reaching their full potential. Through our work, we strive to break down these barriers by providing safe housing, improving access to quality education, and creating pathways for women to become self-reliant and economically empowered.

We create spaces of safety, dignity, and hope. Each home is a stepping stone for families emerging from hardship, offering the stability needed to grow and rebuild their lives. Our commitment to education is unwavering. We partner with under-resourced rural schools to provide critical infrastructure, equipment, and learning materials. By investing in schools, we are investing in a future where every child, especially girls, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.

Women’s empowerment is woven through every part of what we do. We support programs that help women gain skills, confidence, and financial independence, from vocational training and micro-enterprise support to leadership development and community engagement. Our goal is to help women rise as change makers within their families and their communities.

The Rosh and Priyanka Foundation is more than just a charity, it’s a movement driven by love, purpose, and the unwavering belief in a more equal and compassionate world. One woman, one child, one community at a time.

Our partnership with Clontarf

At Roshana Care Group, we are proud to support the Clontarf Foundation, an organisation dedicated to improving the education, discipline, life skills, self-esteem, and employment prospects of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men.

Through its academies across Australia, Clontarf provides mentoring, guidance, and opportunities that empower students to succeed in school, pursue meaningful careers, and contribute positively to their communities.

As part of this partnership, our CEO Dr. Rosh Jalagge attended the Clontarf Foundation Academy at Belmont City College as the Chief Guest. His visit underscored our commitment to supporting initiatives that promote equity and opportunity for Indigenous youth. The event showcased how inclusive educational programs not only uplift individuals but also help build stronger, more connected societies.

Dr. Jalagge’s engagement also reflected a broader interest in exploring how international collaboration and cross-cultural connections can strengthen such programs, ensuring that the benefits of learning and opportunity extend beyond local communities to create shared impact globally.

Together with the Clontarf Foundation, we look forward to continuing to champion education, empowerment, and opportunity for the next generation of leaders.
